Trailer Technician
Role:
To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient service/preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs to trailers.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on trailers.
  • Perform annual safety inspections
  • Prepare sold trailers prior to delivery (PDI)
  • Install snow plow equipment
  • Install parts/accessories on trailers
  • Install Trailer Hitches
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to brake systems and mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Follow procedures including documenting all work performed on work orders.
  • Learn and develop efficiency in CDK
  • Proficient in electrical meter testing
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Follow standard work order process and procedures, ensuring detailed, accurate and timely records
  • Build a strong and supportive team network with co-workers, managers and customers
  • Participate in a learning environment, working with apprentices on a regular basis
  • Maintain a good quality inventory of personal hand tools
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Other various duties as required
 
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
  • Completion of/Enrolled in 310J/310T/310S Trailer technical training and certification through Provincially recognized apprenticeship program required
  • Hold a current 310J/310T/310S Trailer Technician Licence (or working toward)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Technicians must own and provide all tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by dealer) necessary to perform all maintenance inspections, repair and diagnostics.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge
  • Expert knowledge of all MTO regulations
  • Moderate knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
 
We are looking for:
  • 310J or 310T Licensed Technician (or working towards)
  • G class license
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related work experience
  • A cooperative team player attitude with a positive work ethic
  • Experience operating hand and air tools,
  • Ability to lift heavy parts (i.e. brake drums)
  • Knowledge of transportation industry and regulations
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Experience with welding, is an asset
  • Must have own transportation and tools
 

Parts Counter Advisor
Job Description:
  • Receive/identify stock orders, put regular stocking items away in their proper bin, identify where new stock should go and locate accordingly physically and on computer system.
  • Tag and place parts in proper storage locations.
  • Pull returns, package and ship
  • Clean and relocate parts
  • Ensure front counter shelves are full of products, overstocked parts put away in regular bins.
  • Prioritizes work to meet demands and client needs and takes initiative to help others as needed.
  • Notifies the Parts Manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need attention.
  • Receives parts from vendors and ensures they are correct and damage free.
  • Look up and monitor parts requests as well as recording parts disbursed per repair order as required
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Experience in a similar role is required
  • Experience in an automotive/trailer environment is an asset
  • Must be comfortable with current technology
  • Knowledge of parts, manuals and related documents
  • Forklift experience/license is considered an asset
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be highly organized
  • Detail oriented and excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to frequently take initiative
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of pertinent data
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor, respect and commitment to service excellence
  • Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with other employees as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
