Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Don't hesitate to give us a call or pop in. Here is a list of commonly asked questions we are asked. We do our best to educate the customer to ensure they are buying the right trailer, and have a better understanding of what we do here.

When Is an Annual Safety Inspection (Yellow Sticker) Required?

An annual safety inspection is required when the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the truck and trailer combined weighs over 4500KG's /9920LBS, and is used for COMMERCIAL use only. As of July 1st, 2019, trailers and tow vehicle exceeding the weight amount that are used for PERSONAL use (without compensation) no longer require a yellow sticker and annual inspection. The Highway Traffic Act also states that the pick up truck and trailer cannot be carrying commercial tools/cargo, or equipment normally used for commercial purposes in order to be considered for personal use. Also for the exemption to apply, the tow vehicle must have a manufacturers GVWR of 6500 kg or less AND be fitted with either the original, unmodified box that was installed by the manufacturer or an unmodified replacement box that duplicates the one originally installed by the manufacturer.

What Is GVWR, and How Does It Effect What I Can Tow with My Vehicle?

GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating on a trailer and determines what a particular trailer is capable of. GVWR takes into account the weight of the trailer plus the payload.
